Course Description

This course is available exclusively for women, regardless of prior shooting experience, who are interested in learning the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary for safely using and owning a handgun. We understand that beginning your journey with a firearm can be intimidating, which is why our certified instructors create a safe, supportive, empowering, and stress-free learning experience tailored to the learning needs and preferences of women. Course Schedule: Day 1 (Oct. 9, 5:30PM - 9:30PM): *Classroom Session Day 2 (TBD): **1-Hour Range Session This comprehensive course covers: Firearm Laws: Discuss the legal considerations relevant to firearm use and ownership. Essential Gun Safety Rules: A thorough understanding of how to handle firearms safely. Handgun Parts and Operation: Learn the function and operation of both revolvers and semi-automatic handguns. Ammunition Knowledge: Understand different types of ammunition, how to select the right kind, and proper storage. Shooting Fundamentals: Develop proper grip, stance, sight alignment, and trigger control for accurate shooting. Live-Fire Training: Apply your new skills on the range under the direct supervision of your instructor. *Classroom location: Compass Art Center 10335 Kensington Pkwy Kensington, MD 20895 **A separate scheduling link will be emailed to you following course registration. Range sessions are scheduled individually with no more than 2 clients per session to provide a more personalized experience. Sessions are held at: Gilbert Indoor Range 14690 Rothgeb Dr. Rockville, MD 20850 This course meets Maryland State Police training requirements for the Handgun Qualification License (HQL). Upon successful completion, you will receive a certificate of completion and have a strong foundation for continued skill development and responsible gun ownership. If you would like to build upon this foundation with additional training and certification, training hours for this course can be applied toward completion of future Maryland Wear & Carry courses we offer.
